Dave's Celebrity Slapfight 'Dream of a Lifetime'

Wilmer Valderrama

Vs.
Erik Estrada

His 'full name' on the show was Francis Llewellyn 'Ponch' Poncherello... I mean, what? Llewellyn? He's supposed to be Part Welsh?

Any other questions can be answered here...
http://www.erikestrada.com/

He was in 'The Cross and The Switchblade'. I remember they showed it at Bible camp...

Don't laugh...

They also (inexplicably) showed us

'Day Of The Dolphin'

It scared me to death! Except when the bad guy said "Oh Shit!" (The look on our Camp Counselor's face said "Wish I'd screened this movie first!) He did disappear after that...

'Cat Ballou'

and (maybe not so inexplicably)

'The Apple Dumpling Gang'

take a look at the picture... from "The Don Knotts Collection"

Now I know why them damn A-Rabs hate us! Not for our freedom, but because of Don Knotts!

"The Shakiest Gun in Iraq!"
(Still looking for pic)
Feel free to photoshop one on your own godamn time!

Banacek and Co.

BANACEK is a Boston-based Polish/American freelance insurance investigator whom insurance companies turn to when their own investigations have failed. This doesn't exactly endear him to big shot insurance executive types, since calling in Banacek meant they hadn't done their jobs.

Banacek specializes in solving "impossible crimes", recovering such missing loot as an armored car or a professional football player who disappeared during a game. Urbane, suave, cocky, Banacek has a taste for the fine things in life, and an affinity for Polish proverbs. He lives in the ritzy Beacon Hill area, and is chauffered around town in his limo by his driver, Jay. Among his close friends is Felix Mulholland, owner of Mulholland's Rare Books & Prints, who often ends up doing research for Banacek.

"So you wanna dress like Banacek?   The key is casual but elegant.  Rarely in the series did we see Banacek with a tie or proper suits.  Get yourself some slacks, turtleneck shirts (not the heavy kind) and sport coats.  A nice touch is to have the turtleneck and slacks match and the sport coat to contrast; such as black turtleneck and pants with a black and white houndstooth jacket.  One can also wear a satin shirt with a neck scarf for a continental approach.  Going for a more casual look?  Ditch the sportcoat and get yourself a large-collared solid shirt which can be opened to mid chest.  Top everything off with an obscenely long cigar, black sunglasses, and black gloves should you have to do any dirty work. "

Of course we all know the Peppard from 'The A-Team". He was also in a little known movie called "Battle Beyond The Stars".

"Battle Beyond The Stars" has an interesting pedigree. Besides starring Richard Thomas ('John Boy' from 'The Waltons') and being produced by legendary Hackmeister Roger Corman, it was written by John Sayles and had art direction from one James Cameron.

"Battle Beyond The Stars"

also starring Robert Vaughn

and John Saxon

Two very cool dudes...

Saxon in "Enter The Dragon"

You gotta admire a man in purple trousers.

Singing with Steven

Most of you know Steven Seagal as "The Deadliest Man Alive", a Movie Hero whose unique take on the 'Actioner' made him a box office staple of the late 80's and early 90's. Oh, and he also claims that he "May or may not have worked for the CIA. I'm not at liberty to say."

Yeah, right

But did you know that Steven is also an accomplished Singer and Guitaist with several albums under his (black) belt.

An apology ahead of time...

There's a terrifying photo of David Hasselhoff below, so in atonement to the ladies I present this pic of dashing Sean Bean...

Laura Branigan R.I.P.

NEW YORK Aug. 28, 2004 — Laura Branigan, a Grammy-nominated pop singer best known for her 1982 platinum hit "Gloria," has died. She was 47. Branigan died of a brain anuerysm Thursday in her sleep at her home in East Quogue, said her brother Mark Branigan. He said she had complained to a friend of a headache for about two weeks before she died, but had not sought medical attention.

"Gloria," a signature song from her debut album "Branigan," stayed atop the pop charts for 36 weeks and earned her a Grammy nomination for best female pop vocalist, the first of four nominations in her career.

She also made television appearances, including guest spots on "CHiPs," and in the films "Mugsy's Girls" and "Backstage."

During the late 1970s, she toured Europe as a backing vocalist for Canadian singer and songwriter Leonard Cohen. She signed as a solo artist with Atlantic Records in 1982.

After her run of success in the 1980s, her releases in the early 1990s attracted little attention. In 1994, she sang a duet with David Hasselhoff called "I Believe" for the soundtrack of the television show "Baywatch."

Ladies... this one's for you...

She released a 13-track "Best of Branigan" LP the next year.

Gloria
by Laura Branigan

Gloria, you're always on the run now
Running after someone, you gotta get him somehow
I think you've got to slow down before you start to blow it
I think you're headed for a breakdown, so be careful not to show it

You really don't remember, was it something that he said?
all the voices in your head calling, Gloria?
Gloria, don't you think you're fallin'?
If everybody wants you, why isn't anybody callin'?
don't you have to answer
Leave them hangin' on the line, oh-oh-oh, calling Gloria
Gloria (Gloria), I think they got your number (Gloria)
I think they got the alias (Gloria) that you've been living under (Gloria)
But you really don't remember, was it something that they said?
all the voices in your head calling, Gloria?

A-ha-ha, a-ha-ha, Gloria, how's it gonna go down?
Will you meet him on the main line, or will you catch him on the rebound?
Will you marry for the money, take a lover in the afternoon?
Feel your innocence slipping away, don't believe it's comin' back soon

And you really don't remember, was it something that he said?
all the voices in your head calling, Gloria?
Gloria, don't you think you're fallin'?
If everybody wants you, why isn't anybody callin'?
don't you have to answer
Leave them hangin' on the line, oh-oh-oh, calling Gloria
Gloria (Gloria), I think they got your number (Gloria)
I think they got the alias (Gloria) that you've been living under (Gloria)
But you really don't remember, was it something that they said?
Are the voices in your head calling, Gloria?

(Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria)
(Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria, Gloria) ...

Kuiper Belt

Circling the solar system like a large ring is a group of objects named after the astronomer who proposed their existence, Gerard Kuiper (rhymes with "viper"). The Kuiper Belt is the home for many asteroids (the Trans-Neptunians) as well as the short-period comets (long-period comets come from the Oort Cloud).

Several objects in the Kuiper Belt have been discovered recently solidifying the evidence that the belt actually does exist. Astronomers believe that the gravitational pull from the larger, outer planets sometimes tears objects out of the Kuiper Belt and sends them heading out of the solar system (and sometimes into the solar system).

The Oort Cloud
The Oort cloud is an immense spherical cloud surrounding the planetary system and extending approximately 3 light years, about 30 trillion kilometers from the Sun. This vast distance is considered the edge of the Sun's orb of physical, gravitational, or dynamical influence. Within the cloud, comets are typically tens of millions of kilometers apart. They are weakly bound to the sun, and passing stars and other forces can readily change their orbits, sending them into the inner solar system or out to interstellar space. This is especially true of comets on the outer edges of the Oort cloud. The structure of the cloud is believed to consist of a relatively dense core that lies near the ecliptic plane and gradually replenishes the outer boundaries, creating a steady state. One sixth of an estimated six trillion icy objects or comets are in the outer region with the remainder in the relatively dense core.
