BANACEK is a Boston-based Polish/American freelance insurance investigator whom insurance companies turn to when their own investigations have failed. This doesn't exactly endear him to big shot insurance executive types, since calling in Banacek meant they hadn't done their jobs.
Banacek specializes in solving "impossible crimes", recovering such missing loot as an armored car or a professional football player who disappeared during a game. Urbane, suave, cocky, Banacek has a taste for the fine things in life, and an affinity for Polish proverbs. He lives in the ritzy Beacon Hill area, and is chauffered around town in his limo by his driver, Jay. Among his close friends is Felix Mulholland, owner of Mulholland's Rare Books & Prints, who often ends up doing research for Banacek.
"So you wanna dress like Banacek? The key is casual but elegant. Rarely in the series did we see Banacek with a tie or proper suits. Get yourself some slacks, turtleneck shirts (not the heavy kind) and sport coats. A nice touch is to have the turtleneck and slacks match and the sport coat to contrast; such as black turtleneck and pants with a black and white houndstooth jacket. One can also wear a satin shirt with a neck scarf for a continental approach. Going for a more casual look? Ditch the sportcoat and get yourself a large-collared solid shirt which can be opened to mid chest. Top everything off with an obscenely long cigar, black sunglasses, and black gloves should you have to do any dirty work. "
Of course we all know the Peppard from 'The A-Team". He was also in a little known movie called "Battle Beyond The Stars".
"Battle Beyond The Stars" has an interesting pedigree. Besides starring Richard Thomas ('John Boy' from 'The Waltons') and being produced by legendary Hackmeister Roger Corman, it was written by John Sayles and had art direction from one James Cameron.
"Battle Beyond The Stars"
also starring Robert Vaughn
and John Saxon
Two very cool dudes...
Saxon in "Enter The Dragon"
You gotta admire a man in purple trousers.
